What Is Article Marketing?


Article marketing is both modern and primitive.  Writing has been a means of advertisement for a long time. It began long ago when mass printing became available. For centuries using the printing press, article marketing was used  to boost local sales and the same technique is used today to increase sales over the Internet. Today article marketing is a new means to profit from goods or services over the web. It is an inexpensive type of  marketing that can produce favorable results when it is orchestrated correctly.

Article writing is a type of internet advertisement that involves businesses or individuals writing information about products or services that they wish to promote.  It is an effective promotional method for cyber businesses to sell their products or services online.  When articles are made available through search engines, customers read them and traffic is directed to retail sites, which leads to online sales and an increase in profits.

This makes article marketing unique, demanding, and a very helpful tool for selling products or services over the Internet.

In order for article marketing to be effective and successful the author or company should follow article guidelines or submission tips.  When submitting articles to search engines you follow these tips:

     1. Place links to your website in the article’s content
Sometimes articles directories will not allow URL’s to be placed in articles but they can still be inserted into the author’s biography or content section. Including links or URL information brings visitors to the company or author's website    where they can discover more about the product or service that the article is describing or promoting.

     2. Make sure articles are interesting and accurate.   Articles should always be checked for grammar, punctuation, and spelling errors. Errors are unprofessional and will affect potential sales. Article contents should also be original.

Tips are important for successful article marketing, but marketing strategies are more important than tips. Article marketers need to asure that they get the most value out an article for a business to profit from Internet traffic. These strategies include:

     1. Always make sure that your titles for each article is captivating because people are interested in articles with compelling titles. Their interest many times will cause them to click on  links that are included in the content of the articles.

     2.  It is important to do some type of keyword research before writing articles. A good rule of thumb is to ask yourself what words would you put in search engines to gain the information that you are looking for over the web. Use concise keywords. Some of the free tools to use for keyword research recommended are the Google keyword Tool and the Micro Niche Finder.
           
     3. Make sure that your articles are cohesive. Articles should be easily understood and interconnected to keep readers interested.


    4. Promote your articles by submitting them to reputable article directories as well as popular search engines. Article submission is key in article marketing. Your submission sites should also include popular article archive sites. These archive sites have different categories for article submissions. Articles should be submitted to the appropriate category for the best result.  Submitting to different quality sites increases exposure to your article and directs traffic from your article  to the websites selling the products or services promoted by your article.
